LPHS is a public charter high school serving the Lorain community. We are an extension of the safe, accredited, and academically strong school system offered by ACCEL Schools’ K-8 programs in Lorain and Elyria. We opened in Fall 2022 and will graduate our first class of seniors in 2025.

Mr. Michael Williston - Principal

Michael A. Williston is an outcomes-oriented school leader with an unyielding belief that all young people can be successful learners in an engaging environment. He is the founding Principal of Lorain Preparatory High School, joining ACCEL Schools in 2021. His career in education began in 2003 as a middle school teacher in Charleston County, South Carolina. He taught in middle and high school for many years before entering leadership as Principal of Summit Academy Lorain Secondary. He received his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Notre Dame College and his BS in Secondary Education and Comprehensive Social Studies from the University of Akron. Williston is committed to transformational leadership where teachers, students, families, and the community work together to change lives.

Ms. Megan Wilson - Regional Vice President

Ms. Wilson has been with ACCEL Schools since 2013 and holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor’s degree in K-8 Education from Western Governors’ University. She also holds a K-12 Reading Endorsement from Ashland University.

Community School

Lorain Preparatory High School is a public, community school. We are our own school district sponsored by the St. Aloysius Orphanage (Charter School Specialists) which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high-performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States.
