College Credits. Career Tech. Credit Recovery. A High School in Lorain That Meets Students Where They Are.

(440) 201-3876

For Lorain families whose student needs a high school that offers more than one path to graduation. Not every student walks the same road through high school. This school has more than one road. Lorain Preparatory High School is a tuition-free public charter school in Lorain, Ohio, serving grades 9 through 12. Some students here are earning college credits through College Credit Plus before they graduate. Some are learning career-technical skills through the CBI program. Some are using credit recovery to get back on track after falling behind. And some are doing all three. Principal Shatela Evans runs a building where the word "preparatory" means something specific: prepared for whatever comes after graduation, whether that's a university, a trade, a career, or a combination.
  •     College Credit Plus: free college credits while in high school.
  •     CBI career-based intervention
  •     Credit recovery for students who need to make up coursework.
  •     Robotics in the STEM curriculum.
  •     Teacher of the Year finalist on staff.
  •     Free breakfast and lunch.
See what enrollment looks like for your student. Get Your Student's Enrollment Info It takes about 60 seconds. Your student is in high school. Or about to be. And you're looking at the options in Lorain and wondering which one actually prepares him or her for life after graduation. Not just graduation itself. Life after it. The job. The college application. The trade certification. The ability to walk into a room and know something useful. Lorain Prep High doesn't force every student into the same track. It offers college credits for students who are ready, career-tech for students who want hands-on skills, and credit recovery for students who got knocked off course and need a way back.

College Credit Plus

CCP lets your student take college-level courses and earn college credits while still enrolled in high school. The credits transfer. The cost is zero. Your student walks across the graduation stage with a high school diploma and a head start on a college transcript. Not every high school in Lorain offers this. This one does.

Career-technical education through CBI

Career-Based Intervention connects classroom learning to real-world work environments. Students develop job skills, gain work-based experience, and build the kind of resume that doesn't start with "no experience." For students who learn better by doing than by reading about doing, CBI is the pathway that makes school feel relevant.

Credit recovery

Some students fall behind. Illness, family disruption, a bad semester, a school that didn't intervene in time. Whatever the reason, Lorain Prep High provides credit recovery programming so those students can make up the coursework and stay on track toward graduation. This isn't a penalty. It's a second chance with a clear path attached.

A staff worth mentioning

A member of this school's staff was named a Teacher of the Year finalist. That recognition doesn't happen at every high school. It happened here.

What it costs: nothing.

  •     No tuition.
  •     No application fee.
  •     Free breakfast and lunch every school day.
  •     College Credit Plus at no cost.
  •     CBI career-based intervention included
Lorain Preparatory High School is publicly funded. Your tax dollars already cover it. Your student has four years. Four years to earn a diploma, build a transcript, learn a skill, recover lost ground, or get a running start on college. If the high school he or she attends right now offers one track and one speed, then every semester spent there is a semester spent hoping one track is enough. This school offers three. Pick the one that fits. You've read what this school offers. Here's where you find out if it's the right fit.
